Ecotouristic island of Hungary: the eastern area of the lake, the Bird Reservation of Lake Tisza, as part of the Hortobágy National Park has been site of the World Heritage since 1999. This area hides real gems for those too who are interested in ornitology or nature (at an amateur level), during the bird migrations more thousand pieces of a species might be seen in organised boat tours. The middle part of the Lake is the biggest coherent 4-season fishing lake of Hungary. Kind of tours

On water

On the bank of Lake Tisza you can start your canoe tour from ten water Tour Centres and roam the wild area of the lake. The water members of the network provide water vehicles (either manual or motor) for 20 people. They also take care of safety, therefore every tourist gets a life-jacket. There are 8 official water tour lines on the lake with signs.
It is worth starting your tour with tourist guide who helps to discover the beauties of nature. A special experience is the 2-3-hour sunset tour, which is a romantic program for couples, unforgettable experience for children and exclusive event for business partners.

On bicycle

In the region of Lake Tisza 27 Tour Centres wait for you and your family with a bicycle park of more than 500 vehicles. There are rest places where bicycle fast services can be found in case of emergency, you can demand basic parts of bicycles.
Never forget, in every bicycle Tour Centre you can rent bikes, adult and children bikes, baby-carrier and helmets.

In the region of Lake Tisza almost 30 tour lines help the holiday makers. These tour lines can be visited by bicycle, most of them are equipped with tour signs, but we ask you to take a map with you! The maps contain several GPS coordinates, too, which help your orientation. The second largest lake of Hungary can be ridden around by bike on asphalt surface bicycle road of 120 kms long, which can be connected by ferry between Egyek and Tiszadorogma.
On this road is running the international EUROVelo11 bicycle road , too.

On horse

Lovers of horse-riding can take part in various horse tours, to which several horse centres and farms give excellent services and field. Our horse Tour Centres are fitted in with the demand of horse tourists where they can enjoy horse riding education, carting, and the centres can also help you with organising the tour or you can simply visit the places where there are stables, shading roof, watering trough for the horses, and they can stay there for several days.

On foot

There are almost 44 tour lines which lead to such tourist attractions as the only Csárda Museum of the country or the Doll Museum, Miska Mug Collection, Wind Mill, Ostrich Farm. Get to know the traditions of handycrafts and gastronomy. Discover the small villages around the lake on foot. Having been given tour maps and information in the Tour Centre, you should start the tour with a tour guide or rent a GPS machine.

License for Traffic on Dams

According to the current Hungarian Regulations and Laws of Traffic and Water Protection, only vehicles with proper license can run on the dams .

The Traffic License allows you to get to the harbours, open-air beaches and fishing places.

According to the valid regulations, traffic by bicycles and other vehicles with license on the roads of the flood-prevention dams (see attached maps) around Lake Tisza is allowed on the eastern line from Tiszafüred to Kisköre. The licence for these vehicles is valid for the dam in order to get to the boat harbours, open-air beaches and fishing places. The license is not valid for bicycle roads or prohibited areas with signs, barriers. On the western part of Lake Tisza, the dam from Kisköre to Poroszló is a bicycle road, therefore the traffic is allowed only by bicycle and KÖVIZIG vehicles.

Traffic by a vehicle of more than 3500 kgs on the flood-prevention dam can be allowed only by the special license of the Manager of Directors! Traffic by sports vehicle( e.g. quad, cross, enduro) is strictly forbidden!

Duties of the traveller with license on the prevention dam, information:

1. The traffic is forbidden on roads without asphalt surface in rainy weather. Opening and skirting of the dam barrier on the slope is forbidden. Traffic, parking, camping on the dam slopes is forbidden. To stop and wait on the dam shoulder without using the road surface is allowed on the water side.
   At the time of flood prevention, only people doing preventive work can stay on the dam!
2. The licence is valid for the dam in order to get to the boat harbours, open-air beaches and fishing places. The license is becoming void when you want to enter the dam closed with prohibitive sign or barrier or any other way regardless from the issue date and validity of the license.
3. The Management is entitled to restrict or prohibit the traffic on the dam without notification during the year in order to check the condition of the preventive ability of the dams or to maintain or for other reasons.
4. During the travelling on the dam the HIGHWAY CODE is to be obeyed! You must be very careful while travelling. You must always expect humps, limited visibility owing to the dirt. The traveller with license can travel only for his or her own responsibility on the dam. The management do not take the blame for any accident, personal injury or injury in the vehicle. The car drivers must give way to the cyclists on the dam!
5. The traveller with license has to compensate the damage he or she caused (in the dam etc.)
   If the damage is more serious, or the damage is deliberately caused to the state-owned property, this entails criminal procedure and withdraw of the licence.
6. The traveller with license has to keep the licence with him or her while travelling or parking on the dam, and has to show it in case of control to the guards. If he or she cannot show the license, the travelling on the dam is qualified as travelling without license . This deed cannot be cancelled by showing the license posteriorly.
7. If the traveller with license do not obey the rules in the license, the guard is entitled to withdraw the license, start the criminal procedure and can prohibit the repurchase of the license.
8. In case of withdraw of the license, and 1-3 points, price of the license cannot be refunded.
9. Traffic by sports vehicle( e.g. quad, cross, enduro) is strictly forbidden on the prevention dam!
